Carrie Watson


Carrie Watson, RN joined COPE Health Solutions in May 2022 as a Director working with clients to help them advance their journey down the path to value. She brings years of hands-on nursing experience in acute care settings, as well as experience with Care Management, value-based care, provider consulting, and Population Health Management platform design and development. Ms. Watson has expertise in clinical programs, quality performance, risk stratification and promotion of health equity. Ms. Watson’s career in health care started in bedside nursing, working in many specialties including telemetry, pediatric oncology, neonatal intensive care, migraine treatment and behavioral health.

Most recently, Ms. Watson worked at Humana, where she thrived in various roles over the course of 7 years. She started as a Care Manager, where her keen observations lead to working with leadership to revamp the Care Management program to reduce the nurse attrition rate and improve patient outcomes. Ms. Watson then transitioned to Provider Engagement as a Clinical Consultant, helping providers improve their quality/HEDIS scores, patient outcomes, and reduce overall cost of care.

Ms. Watson eventually joined the Value-based Services organization within Humana to lead the quality, clinical, Medicaid, and Commercial business teams to facilitate report development for Humana’s population health management tool. While working on this team, Ms. Watson successfully integrated behavioral health and Social Determinants of Health data into the platform to aid in coordination of care. She also conceptualized and helped develop a risk stratification tool, which allows users to create a targeted list of those patients most in need of intervention. In addition, Ms. Watson led the charge to develop functionalities which allow providers to submit their data directly to the platform to close quality gaps in care and integrated real time admission, discharge, and transfers data to support timely closure of Transitions of Care measures.

Ms. Watson graduated with honors from Purdue University with an Associate of Science in Nursing and continued her education at Indiana University, earning a bachelor’s degree with a focus on Psychology.
