Catherine Castillo joined COPE Health Solutions as a Senior Consultant in August 2016. She is currently focused on system redesign and value-based contracting initiatives for clients in New York.

Prior to joining the team, Ms. Castillo worked at The Advisory Board Company for three years. As a population health senior analyst, she researched best practices and developed custom recommendations for over 30 health systems across the country on topics such as chronic disease management, effective care transitions and team-based staffing models. Ms. Castillo also worked on oncology service line strategic planning for clients in the U.S. and Europe and provided technology investment decision support, financial modeling and market analysis.

Ms. Castillo is passionate about reducing health disparities and addressing minority health issues. At the Advisory Board, she pioneered internal diversity and inclusion initiatives and established the Health Disparities Initiative, a pro-bono research team dedicated to educating clients about the state of health disparities, the business case for addressing them and identifying best practices to achieve equity of care.

In 2011, Ms. Castillo graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Biology and a certificate in Global Health. While at Duke, she worked in various clinical and basic science research teams and volunteered as a patient advocate. Before starting her professional career in health care, she taught high school biology in her hometown of Houston, Texas, as a member of Teach for America.

Ms. Castillo is a proud dual citizen of the U.S. and Peru and is fluent in Spanish. She currently lives in Washington, DC and serves on the board of the D.C. Education Coalition for Change, a non-partisan community organizing group committed to improving educational outcomes for all kids in Washington, DC.
