Colin Ward, MSc, Manager, joined COPE Health Solutions in 2019. Since joining COPE Health Solutions, Mr. Ward has worked on several accounts focused on network development, managed service organization strategy and value-based partnership design. Most recently, Mr. Ward led account management for one of the firm’s largest accounts supporting Health Partners Plans in their efforts to expand the Medicare Advantage offering from the Philadelphia region to the entire state of Pennsylvania. Mr. Ward works as the account manager for all scopes of work under Adventist Health, including data-driven population health management, risk-sharing partnership with payers in California and translating managed care growth strategy into operational implementation.

Previously, Mr. Ward worked as a health care consultant for ECG Management Consultants, a Siemens Company and Huron Consulting Group. At ECG, Mr. Ward supported the transformation work for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, regularly building consensus among the CFO working group on the envisioned finance operational model needed to support clinical and shared service integration. Other projects included forming various rate strategies for merging entities, developing tactics for improving financial performance of MSSP ACOs and enhancing post-acute care coordination under BPCI Advanced. At Huron, Mr. Ward was part of the firm’s long term partnership with UNC Health Care. Mr. Ward worked in a wide range of ancillary departments developing cost-center level plans for operations, staffing and process improvement.

Outside of consulting, Mr. Ward was a leading associate for FasterCures, an action-oriented think tank working to accelerate discovery and implementation of new therapies for patients. Mr. Ward coordinated relationship management with assigned research partners and led project management for several policy initiatives. Other research and fellowship experiences have connected him with the Migrant Health Division of the International Organization for Migration, the Ministry of Health of El Salvador and the United States Defense Health Agency.

Mr. Ward is a graduate of the joint Master of Science in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics & Political Science and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; his thesis was awarded highest distinction honors and his degree was also given with honors. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a focus in Health Policy and Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Alongside his studies, Mr. Ward was a Varsity Rower on the UNC Men’s Crew. He continues athletic pursuits as a master’s swimmer and recreational windsurfer. He volunteers in his San Francisco community through Openhouse, an advocacy organization for senior housing and the Homeless Youth Alliance.
