Marvel Johnson

Marvel E. Johnson is a Program Coordinator who oversees Health Scholar Program operations at Hoag Hospital in Orange County. Her responsibilities include managing the program’s recruitment, enrollment and health scholar engagement. Ms. Johnson’s role includes enhancing scholar support in hospital departments while improving scholar professional development and experience.

Prior to joining COPE Health Solutions, Ms. Johnson led a team of volunteers who provided mentorship for 100+ disadvantaged high school students who aspired to be health care professionals. She has worked in the undergraduate admissions office at her alma mater to increase the enrollment of underrepresented students. She has also conducted community outreach and facilitated operations for a health advocacy group that provided resources to underserved communities. Ms. Johnson has also held several positions in behavioral health and community health that allowed her to empower vulnerable individuals by facilitating programming that improved their social determinants of health. 

Ms. Johnson acquired her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside. She is passionate about reducing health disparities and empowering individuals who are aspiring to have careers in health care professions.
