Mellisa De la Luz joined COPE Health Solutions in September 2024 as a Community Health Worker. Prior to joining COPE Health Solutions, Ms. De la Luz was a radiology imaging assistant for Emanate Health. Ms. De la Luz provided patient safety and care for the radiology department by transporting, positioning, and transferring patients to and from exams. Ms. De la Luz also participated in the COPE Health Scholar program from 2018-2021. As a Health Scholar, she was able to be an integral part of the team by participating in direct patient care and community events. Prior to being a Health Scholar, she volunteered for LAC+USC medical center where she helped to enrich the patient experience and support the staff and hospital by providing dedicated, compassionate, and reliable volunteer services.
Ms. De la Luz completed her bachelor’s degree in biology at California State University, Channel Islands in May 2022, where she was a member of Green Generation and the Surfrider Foundation Ventura County. These programs aimed to mobilize students to get involved in environmental issues through advocating for environmental protections, stewardship of nature, and making a positive impact on the communities outside of the campus. Mellisa plans to strengthen her education by pursuing a master’s in public health with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
