Xitlaly Guzman
Patient Care Navigator
Xitlaly Guzman, BS, is a Patient Care Navigator at COPE Health Solutions who has been passionate about helping others and helping serve our communities around. Motivated and inspired by her own hometown, which is mainly constituted of a Latinx community, she saw firsthand how the healthcare topic was not spoken about enough and grew up seeing the results that some healthcare inequalities can cause. Therefore as a Patient Care Navigator, Ms. Guzman saw her opportunity to become more involved within her community and those surrounding. Ms. Guzman saw how as a Patient Care Navigator she would be the main point of contact for patients and how she could build strong relationships with these patients as well to get them the medical help they need and deserve. Having seen many of the barriers many patients face in the Los Angeles county to get any medical attention or the stereotypes many cultures within the community face against the healthcare system, is also what greatly pushed Ms. Guzman to focus on educating and helping those around us to try and get them the help they need, and make access to healthcare resources easier in the future for our communities.
Prior to joining COPE Health Solutions, Ms. Guzman worked at Cal State LA in the Center for Academic Success (CAS) as a PLUS leader for precalculus. As a PLUS leader Ms. Guzman worked alongside precalculus professors at the university to help students out with any precalculus related problems they may have in the classroom and then would lead either one-on-one or group tutoring sessions with the students, outside of the classroom. Having worked alongside various professors and students, Ms. Guzman saw how many of the students she was helping were first-gen students like herself, so she also enjoyed helping the students out with any other college related questions they may have that she had as a first-generation college student herself.
Ms. Guzman earned her Bachelor of Science in natural science-applied science from Cal State LA and does plan on furthering her education sometime in the future.
